Meet Our Staff
Chief Operating Officer
My father, George Farmer, and I started our first venture into early childhood education in 2001. LeafSpring School at Sonterra has been operating in the Stone Oak area since 2003 and is nationally accredited through NAEYC, COGNIA (formerly AdvancED) and TX Rising Star. With the help of our extremely talented staff and loyal families, we have grown LeafSpring School San Antonio into the premier preschool in North San Antonio. LeafSpring School is the model to which the local colleges and universities refer their early childhood students for observations and internships.
My background as a special education teacher gives me insight into early childhood education and as both a teacher and a mother, it has been my intention to provide quality care to other parents in San Antonio. With the addition LeafSpring School at Cibolo Canyons Canyons in 2013, we are able to provide an incredible education and school-age recreation program to even more families! I am so excited with success of both programs and the relationships we have created at both schools. On a personal level, I have three fantastic kids, Kyle (25), Kennedy (20)and Collin (17) who have all grown up at LeafSpring School and I couldn’t be more proud of them and their accomplishments. I love to travel with my family, reading and relaxing with friends.(210) 495-5222
Director of Operations
My name is Heather Mattingly and I have been with LeafSpring Schools since 2004. I began as a Lead Teacher in Red Room and worked my way up to Site Director. In February of 2013, my journey with LeafSpring School continued as I opened our new location on Marshall Road. I have my degree in Early Childhood Education and have spent most of my life working with young children. I enjoy the freedom of play and learning that is associated with the little ones. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 26 years and we have two children, ages 22 and 25, and three pound pups. We moved from Wichita, KS to San Antonio over 16 years ago and have enjoyed every minute of it – well, except the heat. I enjoy going to the movies and being creative, whether it be painting, crafts, sewing or cooking.

Director of Campus Programs
After graduating from Texas State University in 2016, with a Bachelor’s in Family and Child Development, I moved to San Antonio and began my journey with LeafSpring Schools. I was the Preschool Assistant Director at the Sonterra location for 3 years then split my time between both locations for a year while I was the Director of Enrollment. I was then promoted to Associate Director of Campus Programs for LeafSpring School at Cibolo Canyons where I spent a happy three years. In the fall of 2022 I was offered the opportunity to become the Director of Campus Programs and I am so excited to be back at Sonterra, where I started my journey with LeafSpring. I have always loved working with children and their families so I couldn’t picture a better job for me than this!
I usually spend my free time crafting, reading, trying out new cooking recipes, hiking at parks throughout San Antonio, and visiting my family.210-495-5222Email

Director of Marketing
Hi! I am Thalia Cervantes, and I am the Director of Marketing. I started my journey with LeafSpring School 2018, as a teacher in with the Orange Blossom at our Cibolo Canyons location. After giving my time to the littles, I worked in the after-school care program in The Village. While teaching at LeafSpring, I was also attending The University of Texas at San Antonio and graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Early Childhood – 6th. After obtaining my Bachelor’s, I did my first year of teaching with our Private Kindergarten Program and recently been promoted to Director of Marketing. I have always had a passion working with kiddos. I have made it my life-long mission to make a difference in the lives of children. I enjoy working with children to continue seeing them grow and to provide a positive role model in their lives. My philosophy is to create an environment that is structured and involves hands-on learning in a meaningful and realistic way. My key in being successful is building relationships with students and families. It’s been an adventure with LeafSpring, and I am forever grateful for all the families and friends I have met.
Did you know? I am 27 years old and have been married for 3 short years. During my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I love traveling, tacos, reading, and watching football.
